WOW….where did the summer go? I hope everyone had a fun and exciting summer filled with joyful events. St. John’s Sunday School is a happening place this year and we are SOO excited for you to be a part of it all.
Have you been hearing about the upcoming “Big Picture” Show? Did you know you’re invited? Most of us find that we know a lot of Bible stories, but we don’t know how they all fit together. This year we will gather all of the Sunday School classes once a month to explain the “big picture” of the Bible. These presentations will last about twenty to thirty minutes and will be visual and entertaining, with pictures, music, and movie clips. Adults are invited, too! We will announce the topics and dates each month. Our first presentation, on September 18, will be “The Bible -- Who Wrote It, What’s In It, How We Got It, and Why It’s So Important.” Hope to see you there!
Sunday School Mission Project
Make a Joyful Noise
The 4th Sunday of each month the Sunday School will be collecting change after church to raise money to purchase either a goat or sheep to donate to struggling families internationally. This is a great way for the kids to learn about helping others, raising money and learning about other cultures. The first collection will be on September 25th. Keep an eye on the bulletin board in the Social Hall for our goal tracking.

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR
SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADERS
Each newsletter I would like to spotlight our wonderful teachers so everyone has a chance to get to know each one on a personal level.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself, Susan Stametz, the new Sunday School Director. After hearing the prayers and concerns from members of St. Johns of how much a Sunday School Director was needed…..I felt this overwhelming call from The Lord to take on this task. Believe me I needed this as much as the church needed me. I am VERY excited for my new role and I am even more excited for this year’s Sunday School Program.
I work full-time for a mechanical engineering company in Coplay, PA. My goal is to use my everyday organization and planning skills and let that carry over to the Sunday School Program. I currently live in Bethlehem with my puppy, Maggie. I love to bike, hike, travel, cook and bake and love spending time with my two nephews Jacob and Nathan. With how crazy everyone’s life is these days, it is so important for me to sit down and spend time with family and friends. My favorite memory as a child is sitting around the dinner table with my parents and two brothers and talking about our day. I cherish those memories and all the memories we still make as a family!
I have been coming to St. John’s for about a year now, thanks to Janet Minnich and I became a member this past spring. Please stop me and introduce yourself as I am still learning everyone’s name and trying to remember them! I cannot begin to thank everyone for how nice and helpful you all have been, especially Barb Murray Katarina Knaap and Lisa Tresslar. I am looking forward to an exciting year of Sunday School.
